Social Security Tax

A Social Security tax is a tax sent to the Social Security Administration on your behalf and is also known as the

Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA) tax. The tax is 6.2% of wages for employees and 12.4% of net profit for self-employed taxpayers. Social Security provides benefits for retired workers and their dependents as well as for the disabled and their dependents.
